Apple iPad sales of more than 2 million in under 2 months

CUPERTINO, California—May 31, 2010—Apple® today announced that iPad™ sales have topped two million in less than 60 days since its launch on April 3. Apple began shipping iPad in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK this past weekend. iPad will be available in nine more countries in July and additional countries later this year.

On the first day of availability, it sold 300 000 iPads, since then, many more have been purchased. And probably due to the release of the device in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK this weekend, "Apple is sweeping the market.

On Friday, a report issued by RBC Capital Markets estimated iPad sales would reach 8.1 million internationally by the end of 2010, generating an expected $4 billion in revenue for the world’s largest tech company. Today’s figures put the iPad on track to meet and possibly even exceed that estimate.

Apple said:The developers have produced more than 5,000 requests for IPAD and the tablet will run almost all the 200,000 applications in the company's online store.
