The European smartphone market is growing 38 percent year-on-year, but the most recent year has seen some significant developments. In the last 12 months, although the dominant OS, Symbian, gained device owners, market momentum has now moved to the North American operating systems of RIM, Apple and Google, each of which has grown by substantial percentage over the past year.
LONDON, U.K., June 23, 2010 – comScore, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCOR), a leader in measuring the digital world, today outlined the impact the first three generations of Apple’s iPhone have had on the European mobile market, in light of record pre-sales and extraordinary consumer demand for the iPhone 4, which launches tomorrow.
The iPhone currently represents just 4 percent of the EU5 (U.K., France, Germany, Spain, Italy) mobile market, but 18 percent of the overall EU5 smartphone market. However, the iPhone has facilitated fundamental change in mobile user behaviour and ignited fierce competition among device and operating system (OS) providers.
iPhone owners are the most voracious consumers of mobile media: 94 percent use mobile media, 87 percent use applications and 85 percent browse the mobile internet. With just 4 percent share of the European market, iPhone users represent 12 percent of all mobile media users.

Apple IOS 4 will be upgraded
Time:
6/21/2010 12:19:00 PM
Apple has not announced exactly when the free download will be made available, though it will reportedly start around 10am Pacific time. The iOS 4 section of the Apple Web site currently has a "Coming Soon" banner.
Apple has quietly prepared the ground for the software upgrade. For example, within the iTunes 9.2 Devices menu the image of the iPhone has changed from a basic 3GS to a 3GS featuring the iOS4 wallpaper.
As Steve Jobs hinted back in April, for most users, multi-tasking – the ability to jump back and forth between open apps – will be the biggest draw of iOS 4.
“It’s really easy to implement multitasking in a way that drains battery life," Jobs said at the launch of iOS 4. "If you don’t do it just right your phone’s going to feel sluggish and your battery life is going to go way down. We’ve figured out how to implement multitasking of third-party apps and avoid those things," he added. "It’s very, very easy to use and very efficient, and I think users are going to love it."

Motorola will develop new mobile phones For Apple iPhone 4
Time:

Motorola co-CEO Sanjay Jha has stated that Motorola will offer three or four handsets this year that support video conferencing with a forward facing camera. However, Jha said, "I have never been a great believer in the demand for video conferencing."
Smartphones including the iPhone are currently limited to 1GHz but rumour has it that the Motorola offering will double the CPU speed, run the Android operating system and include "everything that is technologically possible in a smartphone today" according to Conceivably Tech.
Jha also told Reuters that sales of the Droid smartphone are very robust despite the similarly named HTC Droid Incredible handset. Jha said, "Sales are going extremely well. If I could build more I'd sell more." Jha wasn't specific on which component is in short supply and is hurting Motorola's ability to put enough Droid handsets on the market.
An anonymous source from Motorola also suggested that the forthcoming app phone would feature 720p HD video, a 5-megapixel plus camera, a Tegra GPU with hardware Flash acceleration and a gyroscope.

Apple's sold-out World Wide Developers Conference in San Francisco kicks off next week at the Moscone Center—and Apple aficionados are already licking their chops. The two highly anticipated main courses: a new iPhone and the super-hyped Snow Leopard OS.
But how will we know if Apple delivers the goods or drops duds?
Apple WWDC Predictions: New iPhone, Snow LeopardHopefully, a new iPhone will fix its predecessors' shortcomings and bring video, a high resolution camera and faster processing to the storied device. I'm also betting the new iPhone will be a replacement for older iPhones rather than the start of a family of iPhone products. (Okay, not quite going out on a limb here.)
The big question around the new iPhone: Will the updated hardware support background processing, whereby non-running apps can receive updates? So far, of course, they can't. "There's still a lot of criticism on that front," says Gartner analyst Van Baker. "There's rumors afoot that they might put that in."

Here are ten reasons why, whatever is announced at the forthcoming launch, there’s no point buying the iPhone 4G:
1) It’s expensive
2) It’s anti-technology
3) No Flash
4) No multitasking
5) Its battery life is terrible
6) Developing apps for it is costing you money
7) It comes with offensively bad headphones
8) It’s not very well designed
9) It charges for satnav
10) Those iPod docks are holding back better technologies

AT&T Drops Unlimited Data Plans for Next iPhone
Time:

AT&T has officially delivered: all new AT&T customers who buy an iPad, iPhone, Blackberry or other smartphone and purchase the necessary data plan will have two options: $25 for 2 gigabytes, or $15 for 200 megabytes.
AT&T is phasing out its unlimited data pricing amid growing anticipation for Apple's 4G iPhone.
AT&T spokesman Mark Siegel said up until now, smartphones have had a one-size-fits-all data plan where you pay a certain amount each month regardless of usage. So for iPhone users, that's $30 a month no matter how much data you use. With the new plans, called DataPlus and DataPro, you choose between 200 MB of data for $15 a month with the former and 2 GB of data for $25 a month with the latter.
Of course, by staying on the unlimited plan, customers won't be able to add on tethering service.
